The History

the Rhythm Method was founded in 1988 by Angus Brewer, shortly after he graduated from high school.  For the first few years--during the time Angus was a U.S. Army soldier stationed at various bases stateside, and while he was getting his Psychology degree (with a Philosophy minor) from Westfield State (MA)--the gigs were, with the exception of a few friends' small wedding receptions, largely restricted to house-, frat-, and Jack 'n' Jill parties.  His friends and family are quite familiar with his refrain of, "You're having an event?  Great!  Need a DJ?" Through this unflagging willingness to spin records for any occasion at any time, with no engagement being too small or too large, Angus learned the fearlessness necessary to rock any party all night long.  When access to proper equipment was impossible, it was not unknown for him to use personal cassette players jacked into guitar amplifiers, but because the music never suffered, the partygoers seldom noticed; he easily took the chaos and stress of his event-planning friends and transformed it into calm and order through fluid, seamless mixes at parties and mixtapes made with the simplest tools.

After being laid-off from his job as a Massachusetts state social worker in the spring of 2002, and with the encouragement and support of his family, Angus poured his time, energy, and money into improving his skills and acquiring the professional equipment best suited to complementing his skills, and his dedication soon paid dividends.  He secured his first club gig in the summer of 2002; was hired by the local school system as the regular DJ for their school dances; and began DJing wedding receptions, cocktail parties, private affairs, and the like.  His extensive and eclectic collection of music--jazz, blues, country, R&B, hip hop, trance, drum 'n' bass, Latin freestyle, classic and contemporary rock, folk, and metal, among others--and his familiarity with, and fondness for, each of the genres and its culture, makes him uniquely talented among DJs, and able to provide his services for a wide range of events.

Angus' contractual relationship with Denon DJ--as one of ten Certified Denon DJs to fulfill his year-long duties--definitely spurred him to greatness.  Denon DJ helped him become an expert with his equipment, to teach others how to harness the power of their products, and to hone his skills for the benefit of the dedicated partygoer.  The friendships forged with the folks at Denon DJ and with his fellow Denon DJs continue to this day.

Always the consummate professional, Angus has the skills, experience, charm, and range to provide the proper musical complement to your next event, deftly aiding you in making your vision a reality.  Whether you are a couple planning the perfect wedding and reception, a corporation in need of the just the right image and sound for the holiday party, a club owner seeking a reliable and versatile DJ, or someone else who seeks a specific DJ for specific needs, he is the one you seek.  If you want someone whose tastes are wide-ranging and eclectic--someone who doesn't just go through the motions, but actively enjoys the music he plays--someone who is aware of trends, fads, and underground sounds in music, and who endeavours to learn as much as he can about every nuance, quirk, and trait of every genre and culture, he's your hue, man.  Simply put, Angus (whose moniker in the clubs is now DJ black angus) engineers sonic satisfaction.
